Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?

During band's rehearsal break for Sunday's Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the <a href="/music/artist/foo_fighters/artist.jhtml">Foo Fighters</a> — set to perform at Sunday's <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/2011/">Movie Awards</a> — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin?<div class="player-placeholder right" title="The Foo Fighters Take The Movie Awards Quiz" id="vid:660301.id:1664959" width="240" height="211"></div>Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their <a href="/news/articles/1664297/foo-fighters-mtv-movie-awards.jhtml">Movie Awards performance</a>.Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with "Harry Potter," the "Twilight Saga" or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin.Here's a sampling of a few of those one-liners:» "The elder wand, the most powerful wand ever made."» "Why don't you let me be yours ever truly? Bieber's Believe enters charts just one week after his mentor's Looking 4 Myself, as Usher tells MTV News, 'We support each other.'

For the past several years, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> has been helping his protégé <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> become an international pop star. The pair have <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">collaborated on songs</a> and onstage, but now they are about to have their first battle — on the charts.Usher's album, <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">Looking 4 Myself</a>, debuted on top of the <a href="/news/articles/1687847/usher-billboard-looking-4-myself.jhtml">Billboard albums chart</a>, becoming his fourth #1 album after selling 128,000 copies in its first week. But now it's Bieber's turn: Just one week later, Bieber will be entering the charts with his third studio album, <a href="/news/articles/1685471/justin-bieber-believe-track-list.jhtml">Believe</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1687988/justin-bieber-believe-album-sales.jhtml">early predictions</a> are expecting huge album sales.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Do Usher And Justin Bieber Have a Friendly Competition For Record Sales?" id="vid:789781.id:1686957" width="415" height="255"></div>According to <a href="http://www.billboard.com/#/news/justin-bieber-kenny-chesney-headed-for-top-1007386952.story?utm_source=most_recent" target="_blank">Billboard</a>, Believe is on course to sell between 410,000 and 440,000 units, which would make it the year's biggest debut to date.Even though Bieber is on track to beat his mentor in sales, the R&B superstar isn't concerned.Regarding whether he and Bieber speak about topping each other on the charts, Usher told MTV News, "Actually, we have not had that conversation. We try to calculate when we release so that we support each other. It's like a seesaw: 'You take it this week; I'll take it this week.' "Usher also said that even though he and Bieber do not appear on each other's albums, he was still heavily involved in each song that made the cut on Believe."We talked about many different things when making his album. The coolest part about it is we support each other regardless if I'm on the album or he's on my album or not," Usher said. "Every album, it is that sit-down that we have to have, to go through this record. We talk about the audiences that are there: This song is for this audience member, this song is for this region. Why Did Justin Bieber Almost Quit Music?

'He just broke down, and he said, 'I can't do it anymore,' ' Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, recalls to MTV News.

It's not always easy being <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>. In fact, there has been a moment or two when the <a href="/news/articles/1687691/justin-bieber-believe-album-details.jhtml">Believe</a> singer had his doubts about embarking on a life of celebrity.He recently opened up to <a href="http://fabulousmag.co.uk/2012/06/18/justin-bieber-exclusive-interview-uk-girls-have-the-dirtiest-mouths/" target="_blank">Fabulous magazine</a> about questioning his life of fame after he found himself smack dab in the middle of a paternity scandal with a fan, Mariah Yeater, who claimed he fathered her child. He remained steadfast that he never even met the woman, and she eventually dropped her claim.But, as it turns out — according to Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun — when Bieber needed a pick-me-up and some convincing to stick to the music game another time, he looked to a pro athlete for some wisdom.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Nearly Quit Music Altogether" id="vid:793962" width="415" height="255"></div>"There was a show in Orlando, [Florida] ... It was a day where he had to make a decision if he was going to continue on or not, 'cause he was fighting," Braun recalled to MTV News. "We were in Orlando. We had a sold-out arena show, and it had gotten to a point where kids were surrounding hotels, and you're talking about a kid who is 15, 16 years old, and he went and did a show 20,000 people, sold out, but right before he went into the show, he was having a little bit of an attitude." (Bieber played Orlando on his My World Tour in August 2010.)"And he goes in the show, and he was fine, and he comes off, and I go, 'What was that before the show?' and he just broke down, and he said, 'I can't do it anymore. I can't go outside. I can't go anywhere ... I feel like a spectacle all the time.' And he was really struggling with it. You got to remember he didn't want to be a star: I found him, and it happened."Bieber and Braun had a major heart-to-heart as he struggled with his superstardom, but the teen did offer one suggestion on how he might be able to come to terms with how he was feeling. "So, we had a long talk about 'Is this what you want?' He sat there, got real quiet, he looked at me and goes, 'I want to meet Kobe Bryant.'"And I was like, 'Kobe Bryant? We just had this emotional conversation.' And he goes, 'No, I just feel like no matter what Kobe does, he'll always be chasing Michael Jordan's ghost, and someone the other day told me I could grow up in front of the entire world like <a href="/news/articles/1687838/justin-bieber-die-in-your-arms-michael-jackson.jhtml">Michael [Jackson]</a> did, and I just want to know how you handle always chasing someone's ghost that you'll just never going to be able to catch.' It was actually a pretty profound moment."Three weeks later, the encounter happened. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to Divorce; Actress Files For Sole Custody of Suri

Now that's a celebrity breakup we did not see coming today. After more than five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce.

While many of us were skeptical when they first got together and Tom was proclaiming his love for her on Oprah's couch, the divorce still comes out of left field.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," says Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe, confirming the TomKat split Friday.

"Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

After a relatively brief courtship, the Rock of Ages star, 49, married the former Dawson's Creek star Holmes, 33, in an Italian castle in 2006.

They have one daughter, six-year-old Suri.

No reason was given for the impending Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce, but the couple has not been seen in public together since February (below).

This was Holmes' first marriage and the third for Cruise, who previously was married to Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two adopted children, and Mimi Rogers.

It is unclear if divorce papers have formally been filed, but Tom and Katie are believed to have a prenuptial agreement, and are worth at least $275 million.

Obviously, Tom's earnings comprise the bulk of that, but Kate will no doubt receive a significant settlement. Here's wishing both the best in this tough time.

UPDATE, 2:11 EDT: Katie filed for divorce in New York on June 28, citing the catch-all "irreconcilable differences." She makes no mention of the prenup.

She is asking for sole legal custody and "primary residential custody" of Suri and for a "suitable amount" of child support, plus a division of property.

According to TMZ, Tom "did not see this coming" and there is some "nastiness" going on here, as evidenced by Katie's move to get sole legal custody.

UPDATE, 4:00 EDT: Tom is "very sad," according to another source.

Photos show he was seen wearing his wedding ring just two days ago while filming a new movie in Iceland; Katie also wore her ring this week in New York.

Cruise's rep also released a brief statement saying:

"Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out."
