Jared Leto Shows Off Shocking Weight Loss For New Movie Role

Jared Leto has undergone a shocking transformation as he prepares to play the role of an HIV-positive transsexual woman in the movie “Dallas Buyers Club”.

The actor and 30 Seconds To Mars frontman has basically starved himself for a month to get ready for the film project.

Leto joins actor Matthew McConaughey in the film, who has shed forty pounds over six months for his role in the movie.

Jared, 40, has waxed his body hair including his eyebrows for the film and has shown off his crazy transformation in photos snapped by famed photographer Terry Richardson.

Leto admitted that he had truly suffered for the sake of art, practically starving himself for the past month.

The actor said of his weight loss, “Your body goes through weird stages. Sometimes it’s hard to hold on to water. But for me, it’s not about the most weight I can lose, it’s more to represent the character.”

Leto adds, “Historically, people have done it for pursuit of self, to achieve a meditative state, so I’m hoping for that. It’s not necessarily a bad thing.”

The “Dallas Buyers Club” movie will mark his first return to the big screen since his role in “Mr. Nobody” in 2009.

Jared Leto spoke of his latest role, saying, “I’m playing a transsexual woman. I didn’t get involved in the project until a few weeks ago, three and a half weeks ago.”

This isn’t the first time the actor has had to change his weight for a movie role. He packed on the pounds for the film “Chapter 27″ in 2006.
